Android 17 (人造人間１７号 Jinzōningen Jū Nana-Gō) is Dr. Gero's seventeenth Android creation, initially designed to serve Gero's vendetta against Goku. He is a playable character in Dragon Ball FighterZ, as the eighth downloadable fighter and the final one of the game's first FighterZ Pass. He was released on September 27, 2018 alongside Cooler. The version, particularly his main appearance is based on his Super incarnation, who is on a hero side. He can be purchased for 4.99$ or by buying the FighterZ Pass.

Background

Android 17 is Android 18's younger twin brother. Forcibly turned, alongside his sister, into a cyborg by Dr. Gero for the purpose of destroying Goku, he rebelled and killed his creator, yet decided to kill Goku anyway for the thrills alongside his sister and Android 16. After being absorbed by Cell and later revived by the Dragon Balls, however, he went his own ways and became a park ranger. He was later chosen as a participant for the Tournament of Power, a competition that would decide the fate of multiple universes. It was then when he first met Goku, ironically helping the man he was created to kill.

Trivia

• Android 17 is the only downloadable fighter in the first FighterZ Pass that does not have a Super Move that can cause a stage-wide Destructive Finish. This is likely as a joke for him being obsessed with preserving the environment.
• Both Android 17's Lobby avatar and cookie model (if he's facing to the right) has his "RANGER" armband incorrectly placed on his right arm when is should be placed in his left. The former has been fixed in the 1.13 update.
• Playable 17's character file code, "AVP" is a reference to his status as Universe 7's champion during "Tournament of Power" saga.
• Android 17 is only playable in his Dragon Ball Super outfit, despite the fact he appears in his original Dragon Ball Z outfit as an assist character.
