Android 21 (Lab Coat) (人造人間２１号 (白衣), Jinzōningen Nijūichi-Gō (Hakui)) is an protagonist fighter of the story mode for Dragon Ball FighterZ, where her evil half, in her true Majin form spliced off is a playable protagonist fighter of the game's storyline. She is a new protagonist fighter design created by Akira Toriyama himself for this specific game.

This form initially non-playable in base game. However, after being announced as a last downloadable protagonist fighter at the Japanese Dragon Ball World Championship Finals on December 18, 2021, she fights in her "base form", and is an original protagonist fighter, similar to her DLC appearance in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. She was released on February 24, 2022. She can be purchased for 4.99$

Background

Android 21 appears as a mysterious female Bio-Android who is somehow connected to Android 16. In her default form, she's a young woman with long, bushy hair, who wears glasses and is supposedly as smart as Dr. Gero, perhaps even more so. This version of her is only playable in the Local Battle.

Trivia

• She is the only female protagonist fighter to be another variant of initial variant of her playable form, in this case, her true Majin form; as well as the only alternate variant fighter whose species is neither a female Saiyan, nor fusion form whose half is a female Saiyan, nor having stolen Saiyan body whatever the gender.
• Although this is 21's "Base Form", she is not listed as "Android 21", due to not being her true form.
• This is the second time her "Base Form" is a female protagonist playable fighter DLC since Xenoverse 2.
• After immense backlash about the problems she has caused due to the mechanics of her moveset (specifically Photon Pulse), she was banned from CEO 2022.
• "Base Form" Android 21 is the only paid DLC character to be initially introduced as non-playable in base game.
• Following her popularity, specifically this form, she continuously appear in other medias, then made cameos in Dragon Ball canon timeline through her human base, Vomi, starting from Dragon Ball Super (particularly Super Hero movie and a prequel tie-in arc within Dragon Ball Super manga). In Dragon Ball: Kakarot, which itself takes prior to FighterZ, there is a female Researcher who act as the player's vendor and resemble Android 21's "Base Form", and directly her late-human base.
