Bardock (バーダック, Bādakku) is a low-class Saiyan warrior who is the biological father of Goku, who first appears in the 1990 TV special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku.

He is as a playable character in Dragon Ball FighterZ, being the first DLC character from FighterZ Pass revealed in the game, being released on March 28, 2018 alongside Broly. He can be purchased for 4.99$ or by buying the FighterZ Pass.

Background

Bardock is the biological father of Goku. He used to have a team called Bardock's Planet Elite Force that was comprised of Tora, Fasha, Shugesh and Borgos, all of which ended up dying to Dodoria, who is one of Frieza's commanders. Bardock then eventually discovers that Frieza planned to eradicate the entire Saiyan race and made a bold last stand. In the end, he was completely overpowered and destroyed by Frieza's Supernova, along with Planet Vegeta and almost the entirety of his people. He died happy, however, knowing his son would defeat the galactic land shark one day...

Gameplay Synopsis

Bardock is a bulldog. He is as straightforward as can be, but by no means does this make him bad. His ability to pressure opponents with lightning fast moves and an auto-combo that pulls people out of the air, allowing him to guarantee a full combo, makes him a danger whenever he is on the field. His mix-ups in the corner after using his level three super attack are infamous for being extremely hard to defend against, although not as extreme as they once were. Bardock is a top tier threat: though he isn't as unstoppable as he used to be, he is easily objectively one of the best characters in the game. Many top players still run this absolute machine of a character.

Trivia

• Bardock is the only character in Dragon Ball FighterZ to be from a special episode.
• While Bardock’s part of the canon storyline however, his Super Saiyan form isn’t.
• As of 1.20, there's a graphical glitch in Bardock's Revenge Assault where his Super Saiyan aura disappears before firing his energy wave.
• Bardock could be considered the first Super Saiyan, as in Episode of Bardock, he travelled back in time after getting hit by Frieza's Supernova to Lord Chilled's era. While not being canon, it could be argued that Bardock went Super Saiyan before Goku.
• Bardock can Dramatic finished on Space against Frieza specifically, and he could dramatic finish him as well.
