Kaioken is Goku's level one super attack. By manipulating their body, the user can theoretically increase their energy an infinite amount. In practice, this is impossible, as the Kaioken puts immense stress on the body.

Kaioken Inputs[]

  1. Kaioken is a manual, high damage super. Upon activation you have up to 7 inputs to freely choose from (Depending on the kaioken multiplier) and combo with before going into a finisher.
  2. To get maximum damage with Kaioken you have to use each input if possible, since repeated moves will get a damage penalty
  3. Kaioken is one of the most complicated attacks in the entire game, as it essentially gives the user a set number of inputs to perform a custom Kaioken-combo. The move which Goku will start the combo with can be changed by pressing the input desired during the start-up animation. To start this move, it is by default bound to quarter-circle forward and R1 or R2 (Input 236 and Input L+Input M / Input S+Input H). For detailed information on each of the moves, see the Technical Information section.

Kaioken Advanced Inputs[]

Kaioken (界王拳)
Input Damage Guard Start-Up Advantage
Input 236Input LInput M or Input HInput S
Goku Kaioken Powers up using the Kaioken technique. The amount of follow-up attacks Goku can perform depends on how many allies he has available on his side. Consumes one Ki gauge.
  • With both allies, Goku can perform three attacks.
  • With one ally, Goku can perform five attacks.
  • With no allies, Goku can perform seven attacks.

Note that even after using all of the follow-ups, Goku can still perform a finishing attack.

Input L 700 All
Goku Kaioken L Dashes forward and does a downward hook. This attack causes a groundbounce on hit. This is automatically the first input his no other buttons are held.
Input 2Input L 700 Stand
Goku Kaioken 2L A jumping somersault followed by a downward axe-handle. This attack can also be inputted with Input LInput L.
Input M 700 All
Goku Kaioken M A jumping somersault that crosses up the opponent and then does a charging knee blow. Does not travel behind the opponent when performed from fullscreen.
Input 2Input M 700 Crouch
Goku Kaioken 2M A crouching side kick that moves Goku a considerable distance forward. Can also be inputted with Input MInput M.
Input H 900
Goku Kaioken H Pauses for a moment and then charges forward to grab the opponent and switches sides and wall bounces if successful. Highest Base Damage only comboable in the corner. Can be used only once per string.
Input S 800 All
Goku Kaioken S Fires a Kiai forward that goes fullscreen, has fast startup, second highest base damage use this first.
Input 2Input S 800 All
Goku Kaioken 2S Fires a Kiai forward aimed upward. Use this last.
Kaioken Finisher (界王拳フィニッシュ)
Input Damage Guard Start-Up Advantage
Input LInput M
(during Kaioken)
1300 All
DBFZ Goku KaiokenFinisher1
Goku Kaioken Finisher
Appears in front of the opponent, kicks them into the air and then dives down while doing a double-handed punch. Finishing an opponent off with this move will make Goku hold the opponent on the back with one hand and then throw them to the ground.
3x Kaioken Kamehameha (3倍界王拳かめはめ波)
Input Damage Guard Start-Up Advantage
Input HInput S
(during Kaioken /w one ally)
2850 All
Goku 3x Kaioken Kamehamehareal Fires a Kaioken-empowered Kamehameha aimed upwards. Even if the upward kick of Kaioken Finisher is used, Goku can still follow-up with this move. Consumes one Ki gauge.
20x Kaioken Kamehameha (20倍界王拳かめはめ波)
Input Damage Guard Start-Up Advantage
Input HInput S
(during Kaioken /w no allies)
4050 All
Goku 20x Kaioken Kamehameha Appears in front of the opponent and fires a Kaioken-empowered Kamehameha directly forward. Much like 3x Kaioken Kamehameha, inputting this move after the kick from Kaioken Finisher will make Goku fire off this move, but this time he tracks the opponent's position in the air. Consumes one Ki gauge.

Kaioken-Combos:[]

These moves can be used one after the other, combo-ing into each other. Keep in mind that all combinations of these moves will not connect. For instance, using the projectile and trying to follow up with a grab may miss. The amount of inputs available depends on the level of Kaioken. Regular Kaioken allows 3 inputs, 3x Kaioken allows 5 inputs, and 20x Kaioken allows 7 inputs. Kaioken finisher does not count as one of these inputs, but can only be used once, as using it will end the attack. Therefore, after performing all available inputs, it is still possible to use Kaioken Finisher, or Kaioken Kamehameha. Once again, Kaioken Kamehameha can be used after the first hit of Kaioken finisher for the cost of an extra ki meter. Using the same input over and over will do less damage. (Including alternating between two inputs) The more varied the inputs are, the more damage the attack will do.

Normal Kaioken, 3x Kaioken and 20x Kaioken:[]

As stated before, the amount of inputs allowed before finishing the attack increases with the level of Kaioken.

If both allies are alive, normal Kaioken will be used, allowing 3 inputs.

If one ally has been knocked out, 3x Kaioken will be used, allowing 5 inputs.

If Goku is the only remaining character on a team, 20x Kaioken will be used, allowing 7 inputs.

Kaioken Kamehameha can only be used with 3x Kaioken and 20x Kaioken Keep in mind that it costs an extra bar.

The 3x Kaioken Kamehameha causes Goku to aim it at a 45 degree angle. If used after the first hit of Kaioken Finisher, he will teleport to the ground to do so.

The 20x Kaioken Kamehameha causes Goku to teleport in front of the foe, a safe distance away. He will be at the foe's height, regardless of when the move is used. He will then unleash a wide beam across the screen that does massive damage.

Trivia[]

  • If an opponent is knocked out by Kaioken Finisher, Goku will hold them above his head with one arm. This is a reference to the anime, where Nappa was paralyzed by Goku's Kaioken. The pose shown is the same as when Goku broke Nappa's back.
