Neo Tri-Beam is one of Tien's level 3 super moves. By default it is bound to quarter-circle back and R1. Tien will raise up high into the sky and focus all his energy into a Tri-Beam attack. This move costs three ki meters, but all 7 potential ki meters can be used. Every time the attack button is pressed, another ki meter will be consumed and another blast will be fired, for a maximum of 5 blasts if all 7 meters are used. Like the regular Tri-Beam, Tien will inflict self damage from using this move. The amount of damaged received increases exponentially with each blast used. Uses all 7 meters leaves Tien with around only 30% of his health left. The first blast can be used regardless of health remaining, and will not kill you, instead leaving you with 1 health remaining. However, the consecutive blasts can only be used if Tien can survive the self-damage they inflict. If he cannot, the attempt will fail, and Chiaotzu will yell at Tien to not die. Keep in mind that Tien is not on the screen during this attack, and therefore cannot be damaged or otherwise knocked out of this attack. The attack covers the entire screen, the only way to defend against it is to block or reflect.
If Tien is under the effects of Sparking Blast, just like with the regular Tri-Beam, the amount of self inflicted damage will be reduced dramatically. This further cements Tien as one of the best anchors in the game.

- Tien is (one of a few?) the only character in the game who can perform a Touch of Death (100% damage) combo by himself, largely due to the insane damage output of this move.
- Neo Tri-Beam is a contender for the most powerful technique in the Dragonball franchise. Neo Tri-Beam is a technique that in exchange for a large amount of the user's life energy, is over a hundred times more powerful than the user. (10,000 in some sources!) This is why Tien was able to inflict minor damage on and hold off Semi-Perfect Cell.
