Videl (ジレン Videl) is a playable female protagonist fighter in Dragon Ball FighterZ. She was officially revealed after Jiren on January 27th, 2019 during the finals of the Dragon Ball World Tour as the second DLC fighter for the FighterZ Pass 2, and was released as the tenth DLC fighter on January 31st, 2019. She can be purchased for 4.99$ or by buying the FighterZ Pass 2.
Biography[]
Videl is the daughter of Mr. Hercule, the man who falsely took credit for defeating Cell and saving the Earth. Initially introduced as the female classmate to Gohan, she later discovers that he's the Great Saiyaman and blackmails him into entering the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament along with teaching her how to fly. The two of them eventually sparks a sweet relationship, which results in marriage and in Videl giving birth to a female child named Pan.
Gameplay Synopsis[]
Videl, she isn't skilled at manipulating energy like the rest of the combatants in this game. However, she is a skilled martial artist. She posseses many tactical and complex combat moves, and isn't to be taken lightly. Furthermore, she can call upon Gohan, under the guise of the Great Saiyaman, to assist her in battle. Videl isn't tricky to fight with her and not tricky to fight against her. If you are looking for a unique female protagonist fighter that stands out from the rest of the cast or are just wanting to have some fun, Videl is a great option.

Trivia[]
- Videl has two sets of costumes, the default being the outfit she wore during the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament with short, trimmed hair, and the second outfit being her in a t-Shirt with her Orange Star High School badge and having longer hair with hairtails on both sides. If Videl wears the second outfit, Gohan will wear the helmet for his Great Saiyaman costume instead of the turban and sunglasses.
- This makes her the first and only protagonist fighter in the game that can change her outfit rather than just her color scheme.
- This means she has nearly twice as many colors as any other fighters, with a total of 30. However, she can't use both costumes with the same color slot (i.e., two Videls can't use Color 1 if both of them select different outfits), most likely to prevent confusion between the two in battle.
- This makes her the first and only protagonist fighter in the game that can change her outfit rather than just her color scheme.
- Videl is the first DLC female protagonist fighter in the game.
- Videl is the only female protagonist fighter that can sends opponents flying away via a teleportation to get a Destructive Finish.
- Videl doesn't have access to Z-Reflect. Instead, she performs a quick dodge.
- Videl, she is one of the two fighters (or by extend, two human fighters) in the game to lack certain universal abilities, the second being Master Roshi (Super Dash replaced by Masterful Leap for the ground and Reverse Kamehameha for the air).
- Videl, she wasn’t originally a surefire inclusion. Tomoko Hiroki, the game’s producer, originally had some skepticism, pointed to Videl as a character that was hard to decide on. Ultimately the uncertainty came down to whether “it was right to have her fight on the same level as other more canonically powerful characters.” But after talking with different people involved with the project and coming up with the idea of having Great Saiyaman to assist her in battle, she was able to make the cut.
- Tomoko Hiroki quoted “I actually debated about adding Videl a lot, since I wasn’t sure if it was right to have her fight on the same level as other more canonically powerful characters. The Videl fans on our marketing team and over on the Arc System Works development team ended up changing my mind, though. In the end, I decided that she wouldn’t be out of place if we included Great Saiyaman to support her and help her fight. That led to the debut of a new 2-in-1 fighter on the fighting game scene, and I’m happy with the result.”
