Volleyball Fist is one Tien's special moves. By default it is bound to quarter-circle forward and light, medium, or heavy attack. This attack is quite complicated. The Volleyball Fist is made up of three hits, a save (dive), a set, and a spike. Each attack requires that an attack input be given, or else Tien will simply not continue the attack. Each input can be 'customized' in a way. For instance, it is possible to use a light starter, a medium set, and a heavy spike. The light starter comes out fastest and does the least damage. The medium variant of the starter is quite slow, but Tien will enter an armored state shortly after the input is given. Both versions of the set count as low attacks. The light set will cause Tien to stay on the same side when he jumps up at the opponent for the spike. The medium set does not do more damage or start faster. Instead, using the medium set will cause Tien to switch sides when he jumps after the opponent to perform the spike. The light and medium spikes will both send the foe to the grounds, the medium causes a greater knockdown. As you may have noticed, the heavy variants were left out of this explanation. The heavy variants are quite special. The heavy starter is a command grab unlike the others. All attacks will occur automatically unlike the others. The heavy set and spike cause Tien to utilize multiform. The set will cause a clone to wait on the ground for the foe to be spiked down, and the spike will cause two clones to hit the foe downward. The heavy variant of the set allows the third attack to be cancelled into a combo. The spike allows a combo to be performed off the clone that was created during a heavy set. During the animation that occurs before the chance to use a spike attack, Tien will flash briefly. During this short time, using the spike attack will cause slightly more damage than normal. While in the air, attempting this move will use the spike attack of the player's choice.
