Z-Changing is a universal mechanic of Dragon Ball FighterZ. The game is a tag-team based fighter, and as such tagging teammates in and out is a core part of the gameplay. A Z-Change is the simple act of tagging out to a teammate. To do this, press and hold or
(Usually the left shoulder buttons on most controllers). Make sure to hold down the button, as simply pressing it will call a Z Assist. The
button calls in the character that is currently in slot 2, or the middle slot, of your team. The
button calls in the character that is currently in slot 3, or the last slot, of your team. Of course, a character that has been knocked out cannot be called upon. Upon switching, the characters will switch positions, the point character either trading with the second or third slot, depending on which was called upon. The character that is tagged in will fly onto the screen in a Super Dash. Keep in mind that this means that if an opponent anticipates a change, they can easily use a
attack to counter you. Characters on the sidelines will slowly regenerate their blue, recoverable, health over time. If a character with recoverable health left is called upon, they will lose the ability to regenerate that health.
